Visual Worship Arts
The Daughters of Zion (D.O.Z.), a praise and worship team of young girls at Northport Baptist Church, first began in the year 1997 as a vision of our senior pastor, Dr. Lester F. Ayars following avisit to a church in Maine. He experienced a beautiful tambourine praise and worship team performing in their Sunday morning service. Following his return to NBC and prayerful consideration, he appointed a leader to begin this ministry in our own church. This ministry, under the leadership of Nancy DeMarco, attracts young girls of our church membership to present their praise and devotion to our Lord through the dance with tambourines, flags and streamers.
D.O.Z. tambourine, flag and streamer patterns are based upon the curriculum which was created and designed by Shachah Minstries International. As they so aptly state: [We, the church, have taken] "dance and worship, and returned it to the kingdom of God in its pure form where it rightfully belongs."
Watch our calender for upcoming news of our 2008 seminar to instruct future leaders and students on how to begin their own worship ministry.
